It is a grey-blue and slow-growing cactus, heavily ribbed, rigid spines, are black. Nearly globular, broadly columnar, or barrel-shaped. They grow best in well-drained soil and a position in full sun. Be careful as young plants are prone to mealy bug and red spider mite. It requires filtered sunlight to full sunlight per day.
