Ferocactus Townsendianus is a cactus plant. Solitary, with a slightly glaucous body. It has red spines that are dense, stout also hooked. The flowers can be pale yellow to a deep orange with darker orange mid-stripes. Ferocactus Townsendianus blooms in late summer, and early fall and also stays in flower for several weeks. Use very draining soil and water during the growing season. But allowed to dry before watering again and also kept drier in Winter. Take note:  it’s necessary to avoid wetting the bodies of these plants while they are in sun. A wet cactus in the sun can cause sun burning which can lead to many problems. It needs a bright exposure, part shade in summer.

Australian Desert Blooms Nursery is producing many more cacti, cactus, and succulents for you to buy online. If anytime this cactus is out of stock know for sure that it will be back as quickly as possible. As we produce all our own stock here in Ipswich near Brisbane.

Watch your Ferocactus Townsendianus for the first couple of months to check if they are happy where they are.

The Ferocactus Townsendianus requires more sunlight if it looks like growing out of shape. Burning is a common fact when having new plants. Best to gradually give them more sunlight as the weeks go by. Instead of placing it in straight sunlight.

Allow them to sit for a week before giving them a good drink. Depending on the season. Make sure they dry out completely before watering again. Don’t forget to give them a spray with soapy water to keep the bugs off them. And provide very good ventilation.
