Native: Mexico

Mainly solitary, slow grower, spider shape spines over the body. The body is dark green, at first spherical, later cylindric or club-shaped. The flowers produce rings of bright pink to carmine. It needs a bright exposure, part shade in summer. The plant should be watered regularly in Summer allowing it to dry before watering again and kept drier in Winter. They grow best in well-drained soil also to keep the roots cool in summer.
